Treatment Information
What you need to know about The Liquid FaceLift.
The confusion surrounding aesthetic treatments is not just due to the media hype but also the large volume of misinformation that can be found on the Internet.
At The Aesthetic MediSpa we aim to provide you with clear, direct facts about aesthetic treatments and at the same time dispel any myths surrounding these types of treatments.
Why is The Liquid Face Lift so popular?
Facial ageing had always been associated with the visual signs of sagging skin. For decades, the favoured treatment of this sagging skin has been a surgical facelift. When ageing reoccurred another facelift was done, and so on. After a second or third facelift, the individual no longer looked natural and instead had a tight or pulled appearance with many scars to show.
There are many reasons why the liquid face lift has become so popular: it is non-surgical, taking only 40 minutes, swelling or bruising is minimal, if any, it is less expensive and the results are more natural looking because it is based on a newer understanding of the way the faces ages, which focuses on a loss of volume rather than a slackening of skin.
“As we grow older, we don’t grow extra skin. Everything - muscle, bone and fat starts to reduce and deflate. The ageing process has been scientifically proven to be a process of losing volume, not gravity. What we associate with youth is fullness, not tautness”.
How does it work?
Years of research has created this revolutionary minimally invasive facial contouring technique called the liquid face lift that is based on a structural volumising philosopy. In the ageing process, volume and structure are what is gradually lost and absorbed by our bodies. The Liquid Face Lift uses fillers to replenishes lost volume and to restore youthful facial contours and botox to soften lines and weaken ‘depressor’ muscles that pull on the face, allowing them to naturally lift. Injectable Skin Boosters can also be incorporated into the treatment to give your that extra glow to the skin.
The uniqueness of the Liquid Face Lift is that it not only revives the ideal youthful shape but, but also enhances and beautifies the natural features making the procedure suitable for people of all ages. It accentuated the cheekbone region, revives the under eye area and defines the jawline. It requires no scars, stitches or general anaesthesia.
What areas can be treated?
Brow Lifting and Frown Lines
Expert use of Botox in the brow area causes the muscles that normally pull down to be weakened, resulting in a lifting effect of the mid and lateral eyebrow and a softening of the forehead and frown lines. Fillers can also be used to lift deep frown furrows or placed under the lateral eyebrow to further elevate the eyebrows.
Crow’s Feet and Undereye
The eyes unfortunately show the signs of ageing at an early stage. Botox around the eyes and lower eyelid area prevents the muscle contractions that cause crow’s feet and under eye wrinkles, and fillers can be used in the under eye area/tear trough to create a smooth contour down the cheek.
Cheekbones and Nasolabial Folds
As the ageing process begins facial fat is lost and that which does remain starts to slowly slide down, resulting in nose to mouth lines, the nasolabial folds. Loss of cheek volume combined with thinning of the skin and a lifetime of facial expressions, further results in ageing facial features. Injections of fillers along the cheekbone, plump the cheeks creating a more youthful appearance. In addition, this volume restoration creates a lifting effect of the lower face reducing the lines around the mouth and the appearance of jowls. Specialised use of Botox in the cheeks can also soften cheek wrinkles, and fillers injected into the nose to mouth lines can lift these folds.
Mouth, Lips and Chin
For many the lower face is often the part of the face that shows the most undesirable ageing signs. ‘Smoker’s’ or ‘bleed’ lines around the lips can be softened with the use of Botox and/or Fillers and thinning lips can be enhanced with fillers without the ‘trout pout’ effect if carried out properly by highly skilled medical practitioners. Cobblestoned chins can also be relaxed with advanced Botox techniques.
Nefertiti Neck Lift and jowls
Inspired by the elegant swan–like neck of the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, Botox can be used to prevent lower face and neck muscles pulling down the lower face. Corners of the mouth can also be lifted to reverse the sad mouth look and jowls can be hidden with some clever use of fillers in the pre-jowl sulcus.
What does the process involve?
During your consultation with the Doctor a full medical history will be taken to assess your suitability, and the benefits and potential side effects will be discussed in full. The treatment takes approximately 30-45 minutes and every effort is made to ensure that discomfort is minimal.
After your treatment you can return to your normal daily activities immediately For further information regarding the process and aftercare click here.
Can the Liquid FaceLift replace a Traditional FaceLift?
The Liquid FaceLift is not an alternative to a traditional facelift however it does give many of our patients the option of not undergoing surgery and getting a structural volumising effect instead. We see many people in our clinic who have had facelifts but still want to return to fullness to their face, which a standard facelift does not address. The key to achieving the most desirable result is enhancement not change without compromising an individual’s natural features.

Can I have a consultation and treatment on the same day?
- We appreciate that many of our patients have very busy schedules or travel a significant distance to attend our clinics and have often done significant research regarding the treatment prior to their consultation. It is therefore depending on the extent of your treatment it may be possible to carry out a treatment such as The Liquid FaceLift immediately after the consultation.

Pre Treatment advice
- As with all needle based treatments there is always a small possibility of bruising after your treatment. To reduce this risk we advise that you do not take anti-inflammatory pain killers (e.g. Aspirin, Ibruprofen Neurofen, Voltarol) or St Johns Wart or Vitamin E supplements, for at least a week before your treatment, as they all increase your tendency towards bleeding.
- Alcohol will also increase your tendency towards bleeding therefore we advise you to refrain from alcohol for 24 hours.
- Before your treatment you will be provided with a detailed consent form which you will be asked to read and sign.
Post Treatment advice
- We are extremely careful to ensure that any discomfort and risk of bruising is kept to an absolute minimum. If there is any residual redness after the treatment, mineral make-up will be applied so you can return back to work or resume your normal daily activities immediately.
- You can resume normal activities, drive yourself home or return to work immediately after the treatment.
- Depending on the extent of your treatment used some minor swelling can occur after your treatment. Cold packs can be applied to the area to reduce this.
- If lips have been treated, swelling is to be expected. It is therefore wise to choose your treatment time appropriately, as there may be noticeable swelling or unevenness for a few days. The results directly after the treatment should therefore not be seen as the final results.
- Patients who suffer from cold sores and who are having treatment around the mouth area may be recommended to take antiviral medication for a few days prior to and a few days post treatment, as there is a risk that the treatment may precipitate recurrence of cold sores/herpes virus. This medication can be obtained from the clinic.
- For 2 weeks after the treatment you are advised to avoid extreme heat (solarium or sunbathing)
- It is safe to fly immediately after the treatment.
Review appointment
- If Botox has been used you will be advised to attend for a review after 2 weeks to ensure the desired results have been achieved. Any adjustments/top up treatment carried out at this time are free of charge
- Please note that your review and possible top-up treatment must be completed within 2-3 weeks of your initial treatment. After 3 weeks we will not be able to offer complimentary top up treatments and additional treatment will incur additional costs.
- If only fillers have been used review appointments are not always necessary however we are always happy to see you again (or liaise on the telephone or via email) to discuss your treatment or if you have any concerns.
- Occasionally, touch up procedures or additional filler treatment is requested by the patient in order to achieve optimal correction and maximise the duration of the results. Please note that Dermal Fillers are charged per syringe and therefore additional costs will be incurred if further product is required.
